Samaire Rhys is an American actress. She is best known for appearing in the television series The O.C. and Dirty Sexy Money. In 2006, she starred as Nell Bedworth in the comedy It's a Boy Girl Thing.
Armstrong was born in Tokyo to a Scottish father, Hunter Armstrong, and an Italian mother, Sylvia. Her mother designs spas for resorts and her father teaches soldiers close combat training. Armstrong lived in Japan for several years, before moving to Hawaii and later Sedona, Arizona where she grew up and attended Sedona Red Rock High School. She has also lived in Malaysia and China.
Go on admit it, you secretly fancied the kooky, quirky blonde-haired one in The OC didn’t you? We all did – she was undeniably hot! And funnier than Mischa Barton too.
Samaire (pronounced Sah-mee-rah) of Scottish/Italian descent has appeared in a whole host of primetime sitcoms and comedy movies in her time. Notably Entourage, Dirty Sexy Money and teen comedy movie, It’s a Boy Girl Thing (no, we didn’t see that either). And perhaps her most overlooked role, was playing Gollum in her high school’s theater production of The Hobbit, a notoriously difficult part to play.
In 2007, she famously checked herself in, then out, then in again, of an ‘outpatient facility’ (pronounced – men-tal hos-pi-tal) for personal reasons. But hey, cut the girl some slack – if you’d been made to appear in music videos for Hanson’s Penny & Me and Daniel Powter’s Bad Day, you’d go a teeny bit loopy too…
